The course is designed to establish a clear understanding of lymphatic structure, fluid dynamics, and drainage pathways while developing foundational hands-on skills, using Vodde-based principles.

Lecture Content

The lecture component presents an in-depth overview of the lymphatic system, including its structure, function, and relationship to the cardiovascular and immune systems. Instruction covers lymphatic anatomy and physiology, lymph formation, fluid balance, lymphatic load, and the role of the interstitium in fluid movement.

Participants will study lymph nodes, lymphotomes, watersheds, and primary drainage pathways, with attention to flow direction and regional sequencing. Core principles of manual lymphatic drainage are addressed, including appropriate pressure, speed, rhythm, and safety considerations.

Additional topics include a brief history and theoretical foundations of Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD), absolute contraindications and precautions, and client safety protocols. The course introduces the three stages of edema: healthy, mild, and chronic, and discusses factors that influence lymphatic function, including exercise and movement.

Introductory education is provided on lymphatic-related conditions such as lymphedema and lipedema, focusing on causes, risk factors, and differentiation, without extending into advanced treatment protocols. Scope of practice, informed consent, and professional boundaries, particularly related to breast and chest work, are emphasized.

Hands-On Training

The hands-on component consists of supervised practical instruction in foundational manual lymphatic drainage techniques. Participants will learn and practice lymphatic hand movements with attention to direction of flow, pressure application, stroke speed, and rhythm.

Advanced Level 2 Post- Surgical used in Level 2 training Course

I

Level 2: Advanced Lymphatic Drainage PLUS Post-Surgical Massage, and Fibrosis Management

Course Description and Content Overview

Level 2: Advanced Lymphatic Drainage and Post-Surgical Massage

This course combines two powerful modalities into one comprehensive training: Advanced Manual Lymphatic Drainage and Post-surgical recovery treatment.

Developed after extensive hands-on training in post-surgical programs across the country, this class brings together the most effective techniques into one cohesive, clinically focused approach. Practitioners learn to integrate MLD with lymphatic cupping, Brazilian Lymphatic drainage, lymphatic taping, lymphatic IASTM, MLD-based myofascial techniques, and supportive tools to achieve optimal outcomes. What sets this training apart is its practical, real-world framework. You'll gain a clear treatment timeline outlining how and when to safely address swelling and tissue changes following various surgical procedures, so you're not guessing, and you're not piecing methods that don't work together. This is not a single-technique course. It's a complete system designed to help you deliver better results, support surgical recovery, and confidently treat complex post-surgical cases.

Lecture Content

The lecture component examines the relationship between the lymphatic system and fascia and their roles in post-surgical recovery. The instruction includes an overview of common plastic and reconstructive surgical procedures and their physiological effects on lymphatic flow, tissue integrity, and healing timelines.

Topics include wound recognition, post-operative considerations, drainage bulbs and post-surgical devices, and common post-surgical conditions such as edema, seromas, fibrosis, and scar tissue formation. Students study the stages of inflammation and wound healing, principles of post-surgical myofascial massage, and the therapeutic role of compression therapy.

Additional instruction covers surgical recovery timelines, anesthesia considerations, client positioning and bolstering, sanitation and infection control, post-surgical contraindications, and informed consent requirements, including considerations for breast and chest massage. Changes to lymphotomes and watersheds following surgical intervention are addressed, along with the use of compression garments, foams, and adjunctive lymphatic support techniques such as dry brushing.

Advanced lecture topics include fat transfer procedures and lymphatic considerations, vibration therapy in post-surgical recovery, and the selection and safe use of tools, supplies, and equipment commonly utilized in post-operative care.

Fibrosis Education

The course includes focused lecture instruction on fibrosis assessment and management. Topics include the definition of fibrosis, physiological mechanisms of formation, differences between post-surgical and post-inflammatory fibrosis, and expected timelines of development. Students learn how fibrosis impacts circulation, mobility, nerve function, and tissue health, as well as visual and palpatory characteristics of fibrotic tissue.

The instruction emphasizes clinical judgment, including when fibrosis should or should not be treated, client safety considerations, informed consent, pressure guidelines, treatment frequency, and the appropriate use of compression garments, foams, and tools. Sanitation protocols and client positioning are reviewed to support safe application.

Hands-On Training

The hands-on component consists of supervised practical training in advanced lymphatic drainage, post-surgical massage, and fibrosis management techniques. Participants practice lymphatic kinesiology taping, manual lymphatic drainage, post-surgical myofascial massage, Brazilian Lymphatic Massage, and the application of compression therapy.

Training includes the use of adjunctive tools such as Gua Sha instruments, lymphatic cupping, and vibration devices, with emphasis on proper technique, pressure control, tissue response assessment, and client comfort.

Practical application addresses post-surgical protocols for the abdomen, flanks, breasts, face, arms, thighs, knees, back, and submental region. Students also receive instruction in advanced lymphatic drainage protocols for procedures such as abdominoplasty, liposuction, breast surgery, facelift recovery, Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), and fat transfer procedures, within the scope of practice guidelines.

Hands-on fibrosis training includes treatment of the abdomen, back, lateral torso, arms, inner thighs, and submental area, with attention to practitioner ergonomics, client communication, and treatment progression.

Assessment

Student competency is evaluated through a multiple-choice hands-on examination covering lab material learned, safety principles, contraindications, and treatment guidelines. Ongoing instructor observation and feedback during hands-on training support skill development and clinical integration.
